The Jury’s Motivation

“From a very strong short list the jury has selected CLP Holdings as the winner of the Globe award for sustainable reporting for 2010. We were impressed with the report, the superb web presence, and the integrity shown by disclosing the bad news, as well as the good news stories around investment in renewable energy generation and staff safety amongst others. As a jury we were disappointed by the assurance process that CLP Holdings employed but this award is about showing leadership, not a beauty contest and with this in mind we believe that hopefully we can influence others to report as well as CLP Holdings and add thorough and credible verification and assurance”, the jury states in its motivation.

Integrated sustainable reports were sent from all over the world. After detailed discussion the jury cut down to five nominees: BT plc from UK, CLP Holdings Limited from Hong Kong, ICA AB from Sweden, Indra from Spain and Stora Enso Oyj from Finland. CLP Holdings Limited fullfilled the most all the jury’s criteria and was selected to be the winner.

“There were other very strong contenders, especially those from BT and ICA. We felt the BT entry was outstanding in most respects. The ICA entry was an exemplary version of a combined report, however we were looking for more connection than combination”, explains jury group Chairman Paul Druckman, also Chairman of the Executive Board of The Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Project.
